When Josh and I were first married, we had a fun tradition to go out and cut our own tree. In Idaho you can buy a permit for $5, go out into the forest and get a tree. It was always so much fun, even if we had to hike in a foot of snow in a snowstorm. And then a few years ago we bought a fake one that turned out to be pretty bad quality. I finally got rid of it, and this year we decided to go cut a tree. We want our kids to have the memories of finding the perfect tree, so hopefully we'll keep doing this every year. This year we went to a tree farm, and even though it wasn't in the forest, it was still a lot of fun. It was a festive atmosphere with candy canes and hot cocoa. They also had a bonfire where you could roast marshmallows, but we didn't have enough time for that.
Jayden wanted this tree, but we didn't think we'd be able to fit it on top of the car.
After hunting.....
.....and hunting.....
.....and hunting....
.....we found the perfect tree!
Josh was a pro at chopping it down.
Then we hauled it back and the kids enjoyed candy canes on the way home while we listened to Christmas music.
