Irish Weekend

Last weekend Josh's brother, Jared, and his wife, Annette came for a visit.  It was fun to have them here and get to know her better.  They've been married for 6 months and live in Utah so we don't see them often, and so I haven't had much time to get to know my new sister-in-law. Long story short, they were on their way to Ireland, but weren't able to get there so they came here instead.  We wanted to give them an Irish experience, so we greeted them at the airport dressed as Irish people: Josh in a green wig, and me in a Leprechaun headband.  At one point we even spotted a Leprechaun dancing on the street corner: a person wearing a costume advertising a Halloween store.  But to top it off we took them to our local castle: a former amusement park just a couple of miles away.  The story behind the park is kind of funny.  We read all about it, but what suprised me is that back in the late 80's and early 90's it was the second most popular theme park, just behind Disney Land and Disney World.  Here in our small South Carolina town?  Who knew?

Jared and Annette at the condemned castle.  We tried to convince them it is so much more awesome than an Irish castle.  It was a fun visit, we love having visitors.  (Hint hint!)

500

This is my 500th post.  I've had my blog for almost 4 years.  And this is why I keep it up.  I love these Blurb books.  I'm a little behind on putting them together.  I just got my 2009 book a couple weeks ago.  But I love them, and you will too if you get them made.  My kids love to look through them and see themselves in a book.  Especially Sidney, who likes to point at every person and say who they are.

Goofiness

Josh was clearing out some old clothes.  These goofy boys decided to see how many shirts they could fit on Jayden at once and then topped it off with these pants.  He could barely stand up, so he kept purposely falling straight forward.  There's never a dull moment.

Then Sidney put on this huge coat and kept falling face first too.  She just adores Jayden and if you ask her if she loves him she'll say, "I love Jayden.  He is my best friend."

Jokes

We tell a lot of jokes around here.  Jayden loves them.  So does Sidney, even though she doesn't really get them yet.  But she loves to tell them too.  Here are a couple of her latest.

Knock knock.
Who's there?
Banana.
Banana who?
Banana forget about it!

Knock knock.
Who's there?
Chalk.
Chalk who?
Chalk forget about it!

Etc.

She thinks she is so funny.
And the joke master himself laughing at my jokes.  The best way to get him to give me a natural smile.
All the photography blogs I read tell you to embrace the camera.  I need to do it more, so here's an effort.  Her shirt says 'my heart belongs to South Carolina' but I think it's really my initials.  We're also trying to embrace where we live more each day.

Jaydenisms

Jayden's prayer:  Please bless that my alarm won't scare me when it goes off tomorrow and that my legs won't be weary anymore.

Bribery

My kids try to bribe me.  When Jayden did it he was asking me if he could play the Wii and I told him no.  His reply, "Pleeeeease?!?!  If you let me, I'll let you take a picture of me!"

And Sidney.  We were at the grocery store and she wanted to go home.  With a big smile she said, "Pleeeease can we go home?  I'll give you a treat if we can go home right now!"

At least they were saying please.
