Josh's Birthday

A couple weeks before we moved, Josh had a birthday. He's so hard to shop for. He never wants anything. Seriously, nothing. He just wants big boy toys, so I told him we would get him a 4-wheeler when we got to Idaho. His dream came true, we just got one. He's been so patient. More on that later, but I just love this picture.



Mud Run

Josh participated in his first mud run yesterday.  It was 5.2 miles and had about 36 obstacles.  Each team had four people in it and they had to help each other through everything.  It was a really tough course, but Josh loved it.  The kids and I went down to cheer them on, but we didn't get to see much.  I didn't realize until they were almost done that we could have watched more than we did, so all we saw was right at the very end where they had to carry each other. A few boys from church invited him along.  They named their team the Sexy Beasts.  They had a lot of fun and were definitely muddy at the end.  His face was way more disgusting, but he washed it off right right at the end before I got a picture.

 

You can see Josh in all black starting out with his arm in the air.  They finished in 1:31.  So much fun, just fulfilling his dreams!



Singapore

In August Josh went to Singapore for a week for work.  Because of 24 hours of travel, a time change of 12 hours, and long works hours while he was there, he didn't really get to do any sightseeing.  He was exhausted while he was there, and came home and pretty much slept for 2 days straight.  He managed to get out one night and take some pictures where he was staying.  He might be going again in a couple of months, so if he does I hope he gets a chance to see more.  He brought Jayden back a cool t-shirt and Sidney a cute little pink Asian outfit.  Here are a few pictures he took.  He didn't even get one of himself in it.  Next time he needs to bring me along so I can take some for him.  Singapore is a tiny country.  It's only about 30 miles wide, but it's really advanced and quite wealthy.

This building is pretty crazy.  It has three skyscrapers lined up with what looks like a really long ship sitting on top of them. 



Josh's Graduation

Josh is finally done with his MBA!  It hasn't sunk in yet and probably won't until we realize how much extra time he will have.  His graduation was back in July, but didn't actually finish his last class until yesterday.  We all went to watch him graduate.  We had already moved away from Idaho when his graduation for his Bachelor's happened, so I wanted him to have this experience.  It was a good ceremony and I'm glad we got to witness it.  Here he is with a few of his classmates.

All About Dad

I forgot to add this in, but I had the kids answer some questions about Josh for Father's Day.

Jayden:

My Dad's name is Josh.
He is 30 years old.
He is 22 feet, 33 inches tall.
He weighs as heavy as our tv.
His favorite tv show is football and baseball.
His favorite food is spaghetti pie.
His favorite thing to drink is Dr. Pepper.
His favorite thing to do is play baseball.
He likes to wear shorts.
My dad is really good at drawing.
I like it best when my dad plays with me.
My favorite thing to do with my dad is go to Walmart and look at the fish.
When my dad goes to work he makes money.

Sidney:

He is 1 year old.
He is 6 feet, 8 inches tall.
He weighs 3 pounds.

His favorite food is pie.
His favorite thing to drink is water.
His favorite thing to do is play baseball.
He likes to wear clothes.
My dad is really good at shopping.
I like it best when my dad sleeps with us.
My favorite thing to do with my dad is sleep in my tent with me.
When my dad goes to work he goes bye bye.

Father's Day

Father's Day was such a great day.  I don't know what it was, but it was so nice to be able to spend a relaxing day with Josh and spoil him a little bit, especially after his long hours at work and school.  We sort of started on Saturday.  He spent the entire day at his office doing homework, so for lunch we met him uptown so he could have a break.  Afterwards he took us up to show us his new office.  He works on the 21st floor, and the kids thought that was the coolest thing ever.  He's got a great view and you can even see a few distant "mountains."  Earlier in the week we took pictures for his gift.  Here's what we came up with.  I also got a few other pretty good pictures of the kids, which I'll share later.

We had a fancy little breakfast before church and for dinner we barbecued some steaks and ate outside.  We were all in great moods all day, which is sometimes hard to achieve.  The kids sang, "Happy Father's Day to You!", and gave him hugs and kisses all day long with repeated, "Happy Father's Day!"

We love Josh and all he means to us!

Jayden got dressed then changed his clothes to match Dad.  He kept running back and forth from his room to make sure he got his outfit just right.  He was really proud to look like him.

We ended the night with this pie I made.  It was delish!

Stats

Jayden's 5 Year Stats:
33 lbs.-5th percentile
41 inches-15th percentile
My poor boy.  He's going to be a shrimp.

Sidney's 2 Year Stats:
25 lbs.-25th percentile
32.5 inches-30th percentile
The doctor said she'll probably be bigger than Jayden.  We really got everything backwards with our kids.

Since she just had a birthday here's the latest on the little lady.

• When she says "okay," she says it, "otay."  She has the sweetest little voice I've ever heard.
• She knows most of her colors, her favorite being pink, and she's starting to like purple too.
• She has been potty training herself for a couple of months.  About 90% of the time she has to poop she tells me so she can go on the potty.  The only time she forgets to tell me is when she is playing and having too much fun.  She doesn't tell me she has to pee as often, but I'm just letting her go at her own pace.  I'm not ready to push it yet.  And when she's tootin' away, she cracks up laughing.
• Her favorite thing to do is to cuddle up and read books.
• Before our trip in October she always went to bed perfectly.  We would lay her down and then she would go right to sleep without making a sound.  Since we got back over a month ago she has screamed and screamed at bedtime and naptime for 30 minutes to an hour.  I think it's because we slept in the same room with her for 2 weeks, so we thought once she got used to being back home she would get back to normal.  No such luck.  She has skipped her nap some days too, and I'm dreading the day she stops altogether, which is probably soon if she is anything like Jayden.
• When she's trying to do something that's too hard for her, like peel a banana or put her straw in a juice box, she brings it to me or Josh and says, "Hard.  Hard," in the saddest little voice with her head turned to her shoulder and her bottom lip puckered out.
• She likes to talk on the phone.
• Whenever she sees Christmas stuff-anything from Santa to wreaths to candy canes-she says, "Ho ho!  Ho ho!" in her sweet little voice.

Josh:
He's now halfway done with his MBA.  I wish I could say it felt like it flew by, but it doesn't feel that way. 

Me:
I've been eating a piece of cheesecake every day for the past week since my birthday.  I feel very accomplished.
