Prison and a Hike

There's an old prison in Boise that was operating for 100 years before riots in the 1970's shut it down. Now you can go and tour it. It was actually a really cool experience. It's nestled against the foothills. We have often joked with our kids that when we're going somewhere we're going to take them to jail. They didn't believe us this time, so were shocked when we actually drove to a prison.

Jayden was really getting into character.

We kept telling the kids this is why we need to make good life decisions. And then Sidney saw a cell painted pink and she said she wanted to live there.

This building was destroyed in the riots.

There was also a small weapons museum.

Notice Josh saving Tanner from running into the road.
There's a trailhead at the parking lot up the foothills, so we chose a short one. Steep, but it only took about 15 minutes to reach the top.

Valentine's Day

Usually my Valentine's posts are all about the kids. This is the first time in about 5 years I haven't had a little Valentine's party, and the first time in I don't know how long Josh and I had a Valentine date.

We spent half the day 4-wheeling, hiking, and having a picnic. It was so, so fun!

We hiked up this steep hill to look at that little arch, and we got a really cool view.
When we were in those hills in the distance, it was prettier than it looks, but we didn't stop for a picture.

Lots of selfies, sorry, but we've been doing selfies since before selfies were cool. No duck faces here though.

We reached the top of a hill that was pretty bland for scenery, but there is something amazing about feeling on top of the world no matter what view you're enjoying. We stopped here for a picnic.

Lana's Weekend

Lana came for a few days to play. We had a great weekend. After looking through all the pictures I realized we have no pictures of the kids. They were around too of course, but Josh was definitely a good sport while we took off for girl time.

We both love Kneaders. It's an adorable restaurant with delicious food, cute home décor, and a yummy bakery. We have always wanted to go together and finally got to.

Of course we had to eat at Café Rio (twice).
Following Café Rio we went to the temple.

We went shopping and stopped by Charming Charlie's, it's like a candy jewelry store for adults.

We got our craft on. Made some shirts, was so fun.

And of course, we watched the Bachelor. Best weekend!
