Tanner's Blessing Day

Tanner had his blessing on Sunday.  Josh gave him a beautiful blessing.  Josh said he was cooing during it.  We're so glad he has joined our family.

My siblings and I were all blessed with this blanket.  My mom passed it onto me and I have used it with all the kids.

2 Months

Stats:

11 lbs. 14 oz. - 50th percentile

23 1/2 in. - 75th percentile

 

Hard to believe Tanner has put on 5 lbs. and 4 inches in so short a time.  He's still a great little baby.  My only complaint is that he still wakes up a lot at night.  Sometimes 4-5 times within 8 or less hours.  However, the day he got his shots he slept for 7 hours, and then the next two nights he only woke up once.  We'll see if the trend continues.  I'm not counting on it, but sure hoping for it.

 

In the past month:

He still loves his swing.

He started smiling at 6 weeks.

His legs are always moving if he's laying down.

His hair is growing back and it's still dark, but now he's getting a small bald spot on the back of his head.  I know he doesn't have a lot of hair, but it's more than my other kids, so this bald spot stuff is new.

He used to like tummy time, but likes it a little less now.

Now that he's holding his head up better, he really, really likes to do it as much as possible.

For a couple of weeks he quit liking the pacifier, but I think he's back into it again.  Not that he needs it much, he's so chill.

He has been smiling like crazy for about 4 weeks now, but every time I try to get a picture he stops.  This was about as close as I was able to get.

We also discovered who the mystery blanket is from-Josh's boss.



Spontaneous Zoo Trip

The other week we were running a couple of errands.  The kids had been asking to do something fun, and it had been a while since we had done anything.  We've spent just about every Saturday for weeks catching up on never ending cleaning and organizing.  So as we were on the freeway heading south Josh suggested going to the zoo, which is over an hour away.  So we said, sure, why not?  It ended up being really fun.  We were completely unprepared, but that's what we do.  No camera, no snacks, and then it occurred to us it was Tanner's first zoo trip.  It's funny how exciting it is to experience firsts with the first baby, then by the third it's kind of an after thought.  We think he liked it though.  Jayden and Sidney spent more time climbing on all the statues than anything.

The kids loved the flamingos.  They were actually really entertaining, who knew?



Snow

We haven't had snow in 2 years and so the kids were beyond ecstatic when it came.  As soon as we saw it coming down we bundled up and headed out to play.  The kids are constantly complaining that we don't ever have snow despite me telling them we live somewhere where it doesn't happen very often.  It doesn't make sense to them.  It stuck around for 2 days, which was perfect.  I prefer this, Josh would love it to stay for a few months.

Happy Valentine's!

At the beginning of February we hang big envelopes on the kid's doors, and each night I leave a small treat or note inside for a fun morning surprise.  We had a lot of fun with these props one day.

Lately

We don't have much going on lately, but I want to keep this updated better than I did last year.  Jayden's doing great in school and is starting to enjoy karate better.  Sidney is as girly as ever and loves preschool.  Tanner is growing bigger every day, and he still loves to wake up all night.  It's ok though, because I don't have time during the day to watch my own shows, so I was able to finish off season 3 of Downton Abbey and now I sometimes listen to conference talks.  It's actually proven to be a peaceful time, listening to those comforting words in the darkness of the night.  And so far this year I have read my scriptures every day, something I haven't achieved in a very long time.  I figure there is no excuse since I sit down to nurse several times a day.

 

Anyway, I have been so bad at taking pictures.  Here are a couple from the other day.  We have a few nicknames for Tanner.  Sidney especially loves to use his nicknames.  It's always "Tan Tan," "Tan the Man," or "Tanner Manner."  It's just about impossible for her to walk by him without stopping for a kiss.  Jayden loves to hold his hand and thinks he's the strongest baby ever.  He loves that Tanner grips his finger so tightly.

We went for a walk and to the park a couple of weeks ago.  It was randomly in the 70's last month so Tanner actually got to go outside for more than just from the car to inside somwhere.  Here are a few pictures from that.  Actually, this must have been a different day because we're all in coats.

I always complain that I never have pictures with my newborns, but Josh points out it's because I'm always nursing.  And then I realized I never wear real clothes or makeup for weeks, it's a scary sight.  I think this was one of the first times I was in something other than pajamas and my hair was brushed.



100th Day

I sent Jayden off on the bus this morning for the 100th day of school.  His teacher encouraged them all to dress up as a 100 year old.  He was so excited about it.  He's complete with a beard, jogging pants pulled up as high as they would go, glasses on the tip of his nose, and even a bowtie.  He really wanted a cane too, we just couldn't come up with one.  Hilarious.
