Spring Break 2015

The kids and I hit the road for a nice, long 9 hour drive. They were actually really good the whole time. The hardest part were pit stops, but we made it through with noise cancelling headphones, chocolate, and Dr. Pepper for me, and IPads, movies, and candy for the kids.
There are definitely parts of the drive that drag on, but the scenery in some parts is beautiful. These are my attempts at pictures with my phone while driving.

Tanner had no time adjusting to being an Oregon boy. Wet to his knees within an hour of arrival.
Making himself at home.

Sidney loves to sing along with Grandma and her guitar.
We went for a walk along the river front and the flowers were in bloom.

The polar bear is always a hit.
Covered bridge walk.

Each spring there is a tulip festival in Woodburn. I am never there in the spring, so I was so excited to be able to go. It was over an hour drive, so I wanted to make it worth it. I really wanted to get some nice pictures, because I may never be back again. I just don't know. There are 40 acres of tulips! It was incredible! Tulips are one of my favorite flowers. I don't know what I was thinking. With a 2 year old, strolling through the flowers is just a dream. It had rained the day before, and within 10 seconds of getting out of the car he was flat in the mud. After taking a few pictures with my DSLR and having to keep putting it back in my bag every 5 seconds to chase after him, I decided it wasn't worth it, so I put the camera back in the car. Sigh. Now I follow the farm on Instagram and get my flower fix from there. Tanner also started picking flowers and eating them. We did have fun, though. It was a gorgeous and warm day, and I'm so happy to have been able to see something so incredible.

There was this adorable pink tractor, but with a long line of people behind us, and trying to prevent Tanner from climbing it and hurting himself, I couldn't quite get the picture I wanted. We brought cousins with us.

There was a u-pick section, here are the kids with their bouquets. Off in the distance to the left you can see Mt. Hood.

Playtime at Grandma's with cousins.

Fun on the cousin's farm.

On the drive home we stopped at Multnomah Falls.

Tanner is a blur because he is ALWAYS running! He's so fast!
And then the drive home. Oh man, how did we survive? After a week at Grandma's non-baby proof house, where Tanner escaped from the pack-n-play, even after we barricaded him in with random things we found around the house, our drive took over 10 hours. It should be 8 hours, but with stopping it usually takes 9. For some reason our stops took forever. Then I got him a chocolate milkshake, thinking it would be ok because it had a lid. Well, the lid had a big hole in it to make room for whipped cream. I looked back to find himself rubbing it all over his entire body, including his bare feet! His hair was crustified the rest of the day. Then he got hold of a ding dong and smooshed it in his hands. He was disgusting! When we got home, I put him in the tub where he pooped. So I ran him to the other tub and before I knew it he had pooped again and was holding it in both hands, trying to give it to me! Josh wasn't home when we got home, and I was exhausted trying to clean up and get the kids to bed. I'm laughing now. I wasn't laughing then.

He kept trying to touch Sidney, and she was not happy about that. Fun trip!

Time Out For Women

I had a chance to go to Time Out For Women with Kathryn. I just went a few months ago, but she had never been, and who knows when we'll get another chance to go together, so why not? It was in Idaho Falls, and I'm so glad I went.

Obligatory selfie.
We were trying to win an Instagram contest. Didn't, but we still like our picture.

Our friend Brooke, and her mother-in-law Nancy came with us.
I also ran into my old friend, Alicia. We met when we were teenagers at girl's camp. I hadn't seen her since college, so it was fun to see her for a few minutes. She was 2 weeks away from having baby #6, she must be a super woman to sit there all day.

Tannerisms

One night we dished up some ice cream for the kids. Tanner thoroughly enjoyed it, so much that he opened up the freezer, pulled out the ice cream, put it on the table, then got my attention, pointed to the ice cream, then his dish, then the ice cream and the dish again, all the while saying, "Mom, mmmmm! Mmmmm! Mom!" How could I say no?

Idaho City

The kids are really into geocaching. We've gone a couple of times, but haven't found any since Sidney and Josh went camping in Texas. It was a gorgeous day. We drove up to Idaho City, a little old historic town in the mountains and spent the afternoon in the forest. It was in the 60s, so nice after months of cold. We spent a long time sliding down this hill on our feet.

We stopped in town for some ice cream. The town is really cute. Everything is really old. Kind of touristy, but it's authentic old buildings. Not buildings made to seem old.

This was on another day, but I'm throwing it in here. Tanner found Josh's decoys and was in heaven. "Quack quack!"

Crazy Hair Day and Such

The week the school had their theme days, the kids wanted to do them all. Crazy sock day and hat day I didn't take any pictures. Crazy hair day, well, it should already be obvious I'm not at all good with hair, but we did what we could.

Before Tanner's haircut this is what it looked like. Still has those curls!
One day was dress like what you want to be when you grow up day. Jayden wants to be an Imagineer, but when I told him they probably dress in regular clothes, he said, nope. So he dressed as his second choice, a cowboy. Sidney is a fashion designer. She wanted me to curl her hair, and I was taken aback by how old she looked. I never curl her hair.
Tanner wanted a picture taken too.

Quick Road Trip

We wanted to see Dan and Janean in Oregon so last minute we drove 9 hours to spend a day and a half with them. It was so worth it, we had a really fun time, these are the few pictures I took.

There's a gas station that has these giant bears and a giant elk. The elk is bigger than this bear. Tanner was growling louder than a real bear at them.
Our kids playing together. We barely even saw them.
We hiked up this big hill. Every time Tanner falls lately he just lays there and cries until someone helps him up. It's like he physically can't move.

We did some geocaching on this little hike, but couldn't find any.

Had a great view of the valley.

Sidney showing off her kid's meal headband.
I tell people I'm a scenery snob because I grew up in such a beautiful place. I love the drive through the Columbia River Gorge. This doesn't begin to show its beauty.
